In seconds, Hailscale can assess your roof’s risk of hail damage, delivering you over a decade’s worth of hail history in an instant. Our assessments include a to-the-minute report on when, where, and for how long hail events have affected your home.
How does it work?
NEXRAD Radar, or Next Generation Weather Radar, is a network of 160 high resolution doppler radar towers operated by the National Weather Service (NWS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The NEXRAD system was brought online in 2008 and today covers nearly the entire US.
The NEXRAD system detects all kinds of weather activity with exceptional precision, from mild showers, to severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and –you guessed it– hail!
Hailscale directly uses the entire archive of NEXRAD data to review all reported weather activity, all the way back to 2008. This means if your roof has been impacted by hail, we’ll know.
After providing Hailscale with your address and age of your roof, our algorithm quickly checks the history of all weather activity at your location within this time frame to determine if a hail event has occurred. But our algorithm provides you with more than just a yes or no answer.
Our analysis gives you specific details on hail size, hail duration, and even storm speed and direction of approach. Using the Derived Hail Index (DHI), a patented weather statistic developed by our data partners at Dynamic Weather Solutions (DWS), we can measure the cumulative hail storm intensity for all storms that have impacted your roof in its lifetime.
All of this information is processed in seconds. The result is our Hailscale Risk Rating.
Easy to read and simple to understand, this rating rates your roof’s risk of hail damage on a scale from 1 to 10. If your property scores above a 7.1, we believe a roof inspection is warranted to protect your home. For a no-cost, no-obligation inspection from one of our local inspectors, book your appointment today.
If your Hailscale rating is above 3.5, but below 7.1, our team recommends taking the steps to keep an eye on your roof’s condition.
